Harare ZWA July 2012 Writers Meeting







The Zimbabwe Writers Association (ZWA) is inviting you to its next bi- monthly meeting to be held in Harare at the British Council, 16 Cork Road, Belgravia (opposite the South African Embassy) on Saturday July 7, 2012 from 12:30pm to 4:30pm

This time Shimmer Chinodya is talking about how he has been able to do fictional work alongside text book writing while Chiedza Musengezi will be dealing with how she has been able to double up as prolific editor and writer. This will also be an opportunity to interact and discuss other issues in our literature today and strategise before the forthcoming book fair. A substantive agenda will be sent to you very soon.

Those writers who were not at the previous meetings are reminded to bring $10 as membership fees. Remember: the major objective of ZWA is to bring together all willing individual writers of Zimbabwe in order to encourage creative writing, reading and publishing in all forms possible, conduct workshops, and provide for literary discussions.

Zimbabwe Writers Association (ZWA) is the newest nationally inclusive writers’ Organization whose formation started in July 2010 leading to the AGM of June 4, 2011. It was fully registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in January 2011.

Mumwe nomumwe sabhuku sango rake remichero nemipuranga.



Masabhuku vatungamiri vemitunhu iri pasi pedunhu rasadunhu. Masabhuku ane vanhu vari pasi pawo. Masabhuku ndiwo anopa minda kuvanhu vari pasi pawo. Ndiwo anoganhura mitunhu yawo achiisa kuti kumwe ndiko kune hufuro, kumwe ndiko kunogarwa, kumwe kuri iko kunorimwa. Masabhuku ndiwo anopa vanhu pokuita man'adhi emubatanidzwa kana ayo emunhu wegawega.
Masabhuku, aya anohurongwa hwemitunhu yawo yekuti miti isangotemwatemwa. Vanokurudzira kuti vanhu vasatema miti. Nyaya yacho ndeyekuti vanoisa mitemo yekuti awanikwa achitema muti anosungwa nomutemo uyo unozomupa kuti aripe kwasabhuku. Kazhinji abatwa nemhosva anonzi abike mupeta unomwiwa noruzhinji pamwe nembudzi yeusavi inogochwa musi unobuda doro.
Dambudziko riripo nderekuti masabhuku anosimbirira iyi yokukurudzira vagari vemumitunhu yawo kuti vasatema miti, asi havavakurudziri kuti vasime miti. Mumatunhu mazhinji kunowanikwa kuti miti mishoma. Pamisha mizhinji hapana kana muti wemuchero. Pamisha mizhinji hapana kana muti wemapuranga. Matenga mazhinji ndeemiti yemisango. Matanga mazhinji ndeemiti yemusango.  Zvitinha zvekumatunhu aya zvinopiswa nehuni dzemiti yemusango. Miti yacho yavawo mishoma nokuti haikuri nokukurumidza.
Masabhuku anofanira kuva nehurongwa hwekuti misha mizhinji isimwe miti. Kana musha unenge wawanikwa usina muti unofanira kuripiswa sekuripiswa kunoitwa avo vanotema miti. Kana zvadai, vanhu vese vekumatunhu vachasima miti. Miti iyi inozopa maguta kumatunhu ose ayo mamwe acho anonzi anowana mvura shoma. Kana zvadai zvinobva zvareva kuti miti yava hupenyu kumhuri yose.

Naked thoughts!

In the beginning human beings walked naked but could not think about their nakedness. They became aware of their nakedness after they accepted the snake's advice and sinned against God. Here they discovered how shameful it was for them to remain naked. They covered their shame with tree leaves. For a while they did not see how improperly covered they were. After continuing lusting for the fruit they ate at the instruction of the snake, they saw how half naked they were in their tree leaves. They thought of covering their half naked bodies in animal skin. But human beings never stopped drifting from their God. They continue seeing themselves more naked and covered their further shame in cloth. They wrapped their entire bodies in cloth leaving only their faces hands and feet. But sin did not leave them. They continued living in the shame of their fathers, and discovered it is not covering their bodies that matters. It is actually living in Jesus Christ that matters. They turned to God through Jesus. The snake found itself losing more and more followers and hatched a plan. He mad human beings think it is now good to be naked before man and to pretend to be a follower of God through Jesus Christ. He instructed human beings instead to empty their hearts to God, to parade naked before each other hiding in the sense that when we came to earth we were naked so there is nothing about the nakedness of the body, but the nakedness of your soul and spirit. And now, even mother parade their naked bodies before their sons. Daughters too parade their naked bodies before their fathers and brothers. Sons have also joined in the nakedness. In the past, a mere glimpse of a woman's naval was obscene but today its no longer so. It is in fact regarded as nectar is regarded by bees. What of the issue of seeing your brothers, sisters, mothers and any other person's pent, sacred as it was in the past, today it is no longer the same. Human beings are now used in their nakedness. And nakedness is now the cloth. Human beings no longer feel their bodies naked. Their nakedness is their cloth. Maybe they wait for another call from God, 'Where are you my people,' so they could begin to cloth themselves again.

Nyaya yemhirizhonga mudzimba yavikira chose munyika yeZimbabwe. Nguva zhinji mhirizhonga dzemudzimba dzinoguma dzaba upenyu hwavanhu. Mhirizhonga idzi dzinonyanya kudya vanamai navana. Vana vasina chavakatadza vanomedzwa nemhirizhonga yavasina kuvamba. Mhirizhonga iyoyi zvakare inobatanidzira zvipfuyo nemidziyo yepamba. Zvose zvinodzimba nayo. Hapana chinosiiwa pamarwadzo emhirizhonga yemudzimba. Zvikonero zvemhirizhonga yemudzimba zvakawanda zvikuru, asi handisi kuda kumhanya naizvozvo nokuti ini ndinoda kuti nditaure nokuti mhirizhonga iyi yaigadziriswa sei munguva yekumashugre uko vanhu tisati tatanga kugara rumwe rumwe kure nevemadzinza edu.

Kare zvaiti kana mhirizhonga ichinge yaiitika mumusha. Musha waigara dare nanyakuita mhirizhonga uyu. Kazhinji vaiva varume avo vairova madzimai avo. Zita ramai vangu raidaidzwa nderekutii?

Muromo imhandara…!
